Trip: London 's it dear reader! You'll be able to enjoy the charm of London so British!
I prepared the event for 5 solid months ... and wham! Let's go then! Far from becoming completely bilingual, it allowed me to see how much my English had become poor ... yes it is not to dredge top ... So
arrival in Paris, gare du Nord and Eurostar. Arrive London St Pancras station magnificent welcoming recently eurostar and located near the heart of London.
Obviously, the price of transport, even with the Oyster card, we preferred to make all journeys on foot.
First stop the hotel, or rather the youth hostel: The Generator Hostel (over 270 rooms very simply equipped futuristic setting, games room, luggage, young and friendly staff).
We were 20 minutes from the British Museum, it was not worth the shot to deny it. It was a unique opportunity to see in real life (can you imagine!) The Rosetta stone, the remains of Assyrian, Egyptian ... we have almost gone through all the ages and we lingered in the magnificent central hall and wing antique Greco-Roman ... sublime. Not much time to push the trip to National Gallery damage. Especially the big museums are free.
Back to the hotel to take quarters. A big nap later en route to Covent Garden, central London, the busiest area. Chinatown, theaters, streets teeming with people. Then Picadilly Circus. Detour to the center of information for tourists we were. And there I congratulated myself for having booked our tickets for the musical Mamma Mia
(I could not visit her in Paris, so much to be in London to enjoy the show). So we come to 19h before the Prince of Wales Theatre, which is packed with Mamma Mia last 8 years, an absolute record of longevity for this show which takes the headlines of the group ABBA. The success is such that a
film adaptation was released (September 10 in France in late July for the USA) with Meryl Streep as Donna, the main character in history. Small
break you set the scene: 2h45 of pure happiness, with intermission. those who have had the great chance to see not contradict me. The actors are all excellent and the London cast is great. No other word. Features AB-SO-LU-TION.
And just before the curtain rises, a small medley of ABBA's flagship titles (grand orchestra under the stage), click play and you imagine the scene ...
At the end, frankly, everyone stood, sang, in short again was huge.
On leaving the show, stroll at night. We pushed to Westminster. After 40 attempts (unsuccessful) night shots, we decided to redo the Parliament in London and surrounding area the next day.
45 minutes later, around midnight, sleep time and wake up around 9am. Stop in one of several commercial center of the city, it feels like an ocean liner.
Return to Covent Garden with mega big trip on the most wonderful toy store in the world! You can even make her teddy bear! A Lego Indiana Jones while a gallery Special items from great movies: statues of Superman Returns, Batman Begins Batarang on the single ring in 3 copies of The Lord of the Rings, all Harry Potter wands, his Nimbus 2000, the exact replica of the costume Sorcerer of the film, the whip of Indiana Jones ... The store is spread over 4 floors. So, no comment.
sandwich break in the small St. James Square. We enjoy a bit of a strange ritual that makes London sit men and women in business suits in the grass. Two days earlier, no trace of this relaxation in the parks of Paris. Shocking! Take a Breath We
and we return to Buckingham Palace and its gardens. Qualifiers are running out so just "beautiful place". Photo shoot on the fountain and then stroll through St. James Park to get out before a military building where a parade is held, probably the royal guard, we did not linger, time was running out.
We're headed back to Westminster Abbay then we walked along the Thames to see the London Eye ferris wheel on the opposite shore. Hello to Prime Minister that we met, near 10 Downing Street and then return directly to the station to St Pancras on the run. Re-re-Eurostar and Paris. And rere-do!
Pictures to come soon (the time to sort a few)! Patience!
